On Sept. 11, Bishop Bryan Bayda of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Toronto and Eastern Canada hosted a Gala Dinner honouring Mykola Cardinal Bychok.

This was a particularly special initiative of Bishop Bayda as this marked the 1st Annual Bishop’s Dinner, Eparchial Annual Appeal. Cardinal Leo led the opening prayer, with approximately 500 guests in attendance. The gala provided an opportunity for Catholics to come together to celebrate our faith, honour Ukrainian heritage and hear words of wisdom from Cardinal Bychok.

Cardinal Bychok is the youngest Cardinal in the Catholic Church. His Eminence Mykola Bychok, a Redemptorist, was appointed by the late Pope Francis and participated in papal conclave that elected Pope Leo the XIV. Cardinal Bychok, who was born in Ukraine, currently serves as an Eparch of the Eparchy of Saints Peter and Paul of Melbourne for Ukrainian Catholics in Australia, New Zealand and Oceania.

He shared with the audience that he was luckily seated next to Cardinal Leo during the conclave and was happy to have his guidance.

Thanks to all who attended and supported the Ukrainian Eparchy for this very special evening.
